Hi,i just finished my stands with telescopic antennae for 1/300 airplanes intended for Canvas Eagles game (i will post images soon).
Airplanes are made of metal, wingspan between 2,5cm(1 inch) and 4cm(1,57inch). I have shortened the antenna to 37,5cm(14,57inches)(when extended) and glued it to a DIY hexagonal shaped base with sides length 2cm(0,8inch), with diameter about 4cm(1,57inch), 0,8cm(0,31inch) thick. It's quite stable.
Base is made of one piece of fishing lead "wraped" with DAS air drying clay, formed to represent the said hexagon. Lead piece weighs 50 grams each. Hope this helps, wait a bit for pics :)
